Why should I study at Spanish Learning Centre? A. Spanish Learning Centre is a privately-owned school of learning and is a registered business. When you enrol in a course at SLC, you will experience professionalism, quality and a high level of care towards your learning development. The instructor is also the owner of the business and therefore you are a valued customer and will be treated as such. You will not be sitting in a classroom full of strangers and listening to someone talking to the class. You will participate in a fun and dynamic learning environment. All students have a great time and make new friends, while receiving excellent quality tuition. Q. What qualifications does the teacher have? A. Patricia is the director and principal instructor of Spanish Learning Centre. She is from Chile and has extensive professional teaching experience, having conducted Spanish tuition in Norway and Sweden; and for five years in Australia. Patricia studied how to teach Spanish as a second language; and also South American literature at the university of Deusto in Bilbao, Spain. Patricia s classes are of a dynamic structure and highly motivating. She is fluent in Spanish, English and Swedish; and has also studied German. Students enjoy my classes and most continue to the higher course levels. Q. How much do the courses cost?
The cost of our courses is very competitive and value for money. Please click on the 'Course Costs' link at the top left corner of the Welcome page for cost information. Q. How do I pay for my course? A. Full payment of the course fee is required on the first lesson attended. Please note that SLC employs a "No money - no class" policy. Q. Where are classes held?
A. Spanish Language Centre is situated at 82 Hampstead Road, Highgate Hill, overlooking West End and Brisbane CBD.Q. Getting to Spanish Learning Centre?
A. The Centre is easily accessible by car, bus, train, foot or the CityCat ferry. Q. Can I start a course if I enrol late? A. Yes. You are able to enrol in the courses up to two weeks late. It depends upon the individual student, but we have had very serious students in the past who have started up to 4 weeks late and have caught up to the class quickly. Q. Should I attend all classes? A. It is advisable to attend all designated classes. The Travellers, Level 1, Level 2 and Intermediate courses are highly structured in their content. Therefore, missed classes will result in a student falling behind in their learning. Q. What if I cannot make it to a class? A. A full schedule of what is to be covered for each class in the Term is provided on the first lesson to all students. In the case where a student is unable to attend a class, they can consult the schedule and know exactly what was covered in the class and what must be done for homework. Also, you are welcome to come to any on of the other class times in any given week, because the content of classes for each course level is the same each week. Q. Do we get homework?
A. Yes, each week, a small amount of homework is assigned to students so as to solidify what was covered in the class for that week. It takes approximately one hour to do the exercises. Q. What do I get upon completion of a course?
A. Upon request, you will be issued with a certificate of achievement that lists the major content covered in the course. You can use this certificate to prove your level of competence when applying for employment, etc. Q. Can I continue to higher levels?
A. All courses offered are designed to prepare you for higher-level learning in the more advanced courses. You must complete a course before continuing on to higher level courses. Many of our students continue on to higher levels and master the Spanish language.
